Youth Summer Camps

Research has shown that spending more time outdoors can have numerous benefits for children, including improved cognitive functioning, reduced symptoms of attention deficit disorder, increased self-discipline, and enhanced emotional well-being. At Mitchell County Conservation Board, we understand the importance of introducing today’s youth to the wonders of the natural world. That’s why we offer a variety of summer nature camps designed to foster a love for the outdoors and instill a sense of environmental stewardship.

Our camps are not only educational but also fun, active, and engaging. Through games, crafts, stories, and in-depth nature exploration, we provide high-quality environmental learning experiences for all participants.

Picnics in the Park: Families with children entering Kindergarten and younger are invited to join us for our Picnics in the Park program. Bring your picnic lunch, blanket, and an adult to enjoy a nature-themed book reading and a short activity. This program is free, and registration is not required.

Discovery Day Camps: Help your child discover the wonders of nature at our Discovery Day Camps. Held at the Milton R. Owen Nature Center, these camps take place on Wednesday mornings for students entering 1st and 2nd grade, and Thursday mornings for students entering 3rd and 4th grade. Pre-registration is required.

Adventure Camp: Calling all students entering 5th to 8th grade! Join our experienced education staff to explore different outdoor skills such as biking, hiking, paddling, outdoor survival, shooting sports, and more. Participants can choose to attend all days or sign up for their preferred activities. Pre-registration is required.
