Pinicon Alders Wildlife Area

Welcome to the Pinicon Alders Wildlife Area, located at 3133 470th St. McIntire, Iowa. Situated about 1 mile northwest of McIntire, this 350-acre habitat offers a diverse range of natural wonders to explore.

One of the highlights of the area is the Wapsipinicon River, which flows through the wildlife area and is stocked with trout by the Iowa DNR. Fishing enthusiasts will enjoy casting their lines in these pristine waters.

For those seeking an overnight adventure, we have a rustic log cabin available for camping. Constructed in the 1950s, this one-room cabin offers a unique and cozy camping experience. Reservations can be made at $25 per night. We also offer a more modern cabin for $50 a night

Nature lovers will appreciate the Wapsi-Great Western Line Trail that runs through the area, offering both paved and unpaved hiking trails to explore. As you venture along the trail, you’ll have the opportunity to cross a swinging bridge and discover a natural spring encased in its own serene beauty, providing fresh drinking water.
