Maple Syruping!

March 13, 2024 @ 5:30 pm

free-Call to sign up

With the county seat of Osage being the “City of Maples”, what better way to break the winter blues than learning about the liquid gold that flows for free each spring-MAPLE SYRUP! Join Naturalist Chelsea Ewen Rowcliffe on Wednesday, March 13th at 5:30 PM at the Milton R. Owen Nature Center for a demonstration of how to harvest this sweet treat.

We’ll cover how to identify maple trees, the equipment needed, “tapping” the trees, and turning sap in to syrup!
This program is free and open to the public, but please call our office  at (641) 732-5204 to sign up. We will be going on a leisurely walk around the Nature Center, so please wear outdoor shoes and weather appropriate clothing. Of course, this program wouldn’t be complete without a sampling of the sweet stuff, too!
