Butterfly & Bee Bonanza

June 11, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Join Osage Valent BioSciences and Mitchell County Conservation, for a fun afternoon preparing to Celebrate National Pollinator Week! This FREE event is open to the public and geared especially for families with children. Visitors to the Jiri-Rita Prairie Park will be provided with gear and information on how to find and collect Monarch eggs & caterpillars, and you may even get to go home with your own Monarch to watch grow! Participants will also have the opportunity to be real scientists and assist in a citizen science project by going on a photo “hunt” for all of the bee species that are utilizing the prairie. And we can’t forget about the flowers these important pollinators depend on! We’ll help you practice your plant identification skills to find out what’s blooming. Butterfly and Bee activities for all ages will be set up at the prairie entrance, and the first 75 participants will get to go home with their own insect discovery kits. If there is rain, this event will take place on June 13th from 9-11 AM. Watch the Valent BioSciences Osage Facebook Page and the Mitchell County Conservation Facebook Page for updated Event and weather announcements.
